Description

A large, particularly fine quality and very original fitted WRITING BOX.

Of well figured rosewood it is edged in brass with recessed carrying handles to both sides. It opens to reveal the original gilt-tooled leather writings surface and beautiful pair of patented ink bottles.

Inside one of the lidded compartments can be found the original pair of candle-holders which fit into sockets to enable it to be used when darkness falls. There are FOUR velvet-lined secret drawers (accessed only via a VERY secret catch) and it is complete with all of its original keys. One of the best! Measurements; 20 x 11 x 8.5 inches (51 x 28 x 21.5cms)
