Description

A rare Worcester porcelain teabowl and saucer, c. 1756. Both hand painted in underglaze blue, with the ‘Rearing rock island’ pattern - a Chinese man on an island, before trees, rocks, and buildings, looking out at a man rowing a boat on a river.

Workman’s marks in underglaze blue to both items.

Diameter of saucer - 11.8 cm, 4 5/8”.

Height of teabowl - 4 cm, 1 1/2”.

Condition - Small chip to footrim of teabowl. Typical firing faults, commensurate with the age of the item. No restoration.
