This mirror retains its original gilt with some refinishing and character with wear consistent with age and use. The overall structure of the mirror looks as if at one point in its lifetime it formed part of the building it was placed in, such that at the base of the mirror, the moulding looks as though it should continue but since has been sawn leaving a slightly crude finish - see photos. This does not detract from the piece and in-fact adds to its character in my opinion.
