Antique Thomas Russell Full Hunter Pocket Watch

A 1920s Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss 10-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed by the original retailers, Thomas Russell & Son, Liverpool.

Thomas Russell & Son was a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is in good condition with just general surface marks from use and a little rubbing to the back.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens. Original glass lenses were often replaced with acrylic if they broke as it is much more durable.

The signed dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
