In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The top section of the cabinet lifts off the stand, held in place by small wooden pegs. The bottom two drawers are fixed to the frame of the stand but can be unscrewed.

The drawers are all lined with a red marbled paper and have two small ebonised turned knobs. The knobs are not original but have been on the cabinet a long time.
The whole cabinet is covered in an intricate floral marquetry using a variety of different woods including olivewood, fruitwood and walnut. The same symmetrical floral pattern of leaves and foliage is repeated on the front, sides and top. The back of the cabinet is also decorated with a simpler marquetry design.

The stand is later than the cabinet itself and is made of mahogany. It is good quality, well made and displays the cabinet well but is not original.
It is in good condition for its age. There is a split in the back of the cabinet and there have been some historic repairs and a few small replacement pieces of wood (see photos) but no major damages. There are minor losses and some fading but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully - a real eye catching statement piece.
