Antique Victorian Taxidermy Barn Owl in Glass Display Case

1900 - 1920
Description

Fine example of a stuffed and mounted Barn Owl in its original glass display case, dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It has been very well preserved and mounted, perched on a branch in a naturalistic setting amongst natural foliage and green. It is set in a good quality glass fronted pine case with a raised moulded border. It has a good solid back which is part covered with old paper and has a strong ring for hanging on a wall.

It is in good condition due to the protection the case has given over the years. The owl's feather's are full and have a good colour. There is no deterioration around his feet or legs and he looks very healthy. The background is clean and tidy with no major signs of deterioration or wear. The wooden case itself has a good aged patina with no major damages and has been lightly cleaned and waxed.

Please have a good look at all the photos for the best description and if you have any questions please ask. Collection from Ashburton, Devon or local delivery available. Nationwide delivery via courier can be arranged - please get in touch for an accurate quote. London likely to be around £30.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
