A Rare 18th Century Silver Stilton Scoop

Description

A rare Georgian silver Stilton scoop dating to 1786. This superb example has a shaped and dyed ivory handle and hallmarked silver shaft and blade. The blade is 'spade' shaped and the silver is of fabulous quality and gauge. It is a good collector's item being made by the great George Smith and William Fearn and is still as usable today as it was over 220 years ago. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents, splits or losses to the silver and no breaks to the handle. There is some slight loss to the green dye at the end of the handle, commensurate with age and use.

Date :- London 1786.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable, slight softening to the makers mark.

Maker :- George Smith and William Fearn.

Length :- 28.5 cms.

Blade depth :- 3.2 cms.
