Ash & Elm Smoker’s Bow Armchair C.1880.

Description

Superb example of the classic late 19th.c. ash and elm smoker’s bow armchair c.1880. Beautifully shaped elm backrest and arms raised on turned ash spindles over a single piece elm saddle seat. On particularly good turned legs, set at a splayed angle for extra stability and joined with double turned stretchers. Maker’s stamp to the rear edge of the seat. Excellent condition and lovely original colour, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
