Early Carriage Clock - Moser A Paris

Status: This item has been sold

Here we have a true gem!

This is a completely original and quite early carriage clock by Georges Moser, who was working from the Boulevard du Temple 15, Paris, when this was made. A fine example with a fully engraved dial mask, trefoil hands, push repeat on a bell, all bevelled and substantial ''white'' glass in an engraved - one piece case, dating to around 1850. The clock has been fully dismantled and overhauled and in doing so we noticed a rather unusual form of platform escapement which is not screwed down in the conventional way. Georges Moser had a stand at the Great Exhibition of 1851 at Crystal Palace to show his fine clocks. A very interesting clock which would appeal to the collector or investor in rarer clocks. Sold with a full 12 month guarantee (U.K.)
