Gents 1940s Arsa Triple Date Wrist Watch

A gents 1940s Arsa triple date wrist watch.

The watch has a 17-jewel Swiss hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Arsa name which is formed from the name August Reymond SA, the founder of the business.

In 1898, Reymond moved to Tramelan, Switzerland, where he employed a small group of watch makers to make watches which were to be sold under his name. The business was very successful and by 1910 he employed over 100 staff. The movements produced by the factory were named Unitas and they soon became known for their reliability and keen prices. The movements were supplied to numerous other watch manufacturers.

The watch measures 34.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and lugs. The case is plated and there is a little wear and marking but overall very acceptable for a piece of its age.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has been professionally re-finished at some stage, and very nicely executed too. Feuille shaped hands, centre seconds hand, date pointer and two apertures, one for day of the week and the other for month. The date pointer and day of the week are adjusted by way of the small buttons on the side of the case.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
