A Fabulous Large Georgian Silver Mustard Pot

18th century
Description

A superb George III silver mustard pot of octagonal form and with a matching hinged lid. The body is engraved with a band of leaves and stipple and dot engraving in the Georgian taste. There is a handsome cartouche to the front, engraved with the initial R. Inside there is a fitted and shaped blue glass liner. The mustard was made at the start of the Regency period and mustard pots dating from this era are becoming increasingly scarce and collectable. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits to the silver and no chips or cracks to the liner. The liner has a small burst air bubble in the base, which is not damage.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. Maker's mark absent.

Date :- London 1803.

Height :- 10 cms. (to highest point).
