An elegant Georgian mercury wheel barometer. A mahogany case of slightly larger proportions with a swan neck pediment and the original brass finial. Choice mahogany veneers with banded case edging. Well silvered engraved hygrometer, thermometer, level and main 10'' dial.
J Verga is listed in Banfields'' Barometer makers and retailers'' book as working from circa 1820-1835. Makers of the same name worked in St. Ives, Chester, London and Bath.
