Camden Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
This lovely bookcase is of slender proportions but still affords good storage/display space. The domed top upper section has a single glazed door (lockable) which opens to access a shelved interior. The door is flanked by a pair of fluted Corinthian columns which terminate in capitols. The bureau itself has a lockable fall which opens to reveal a fitted interior with stationary compartments and series of small drawers and a cupboard. Beneath the fall are two serpentine fronted drawers fitted with their original brass handles. All standing on elegant cabriole legs in solid walnut with carved shell motifs to the knees. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition, with a great colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home. Splits into two sections for ease of installation.
