A gents Eterna bumper automatic wrist watch, 1948.

The watch has a bumper automatic movement, calibre 1158H which was made from 1945 to 1948. The signed movement is working nicely and the serial number 3187416 dates it back to 1948.

Early automatic watches relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

This particular watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the handsomely shaped lugs. The case is stainless steel and overall the condition is good for a 1940s piece, just some surface scratches to the screw-on case back, and a couple of small scratched in numbers, they look like references to past watch services.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has been professionally refinished at some stage. Feuille shaped hands, centre seconds hand with pointer end and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
