As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this comical Ivory Netsuke from the Meiji period 1868-1912 , circa 1890 , the Netsuke depicts the famous mythical long armed Fisherman Tenaga performing acrobatics upon a Drum , this incredibly well carved Netsuke is artist signed in red script beneath the Drum , the artist signature translates to read Gyokuyosai , an extremely accomplished carver from the latter part of the 19th century , an unusual and pleasing subject to add to your Netsuke or Japanese works of art collection .
