Description

A superb mid-19th century fitted SEWING BOX in wonderful condition.

The box itself is of coromandel wood, beautifully inlaid to the lid and the front with engraved brass; mother-of-pearl and abalone, with an engraved crest to the lid. It has twin coromandel ring handles and is raised on squat bun feet.

The lid opens to reveal the original interior, lined in pink silk with various contents which include: needle cleaner; waxer; tape measure holder; tray of tools and full set of seven MOP cotton reels. Various other items can be found in the compartment below and it retains its original makers label. 14 x 10 x 8ins (35.5 x 25.5 x 20cms). Gorgeous fitted box!
