Antique Victorian Silver Mounted Blotter - William Comyns

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a fine example of a solid sterling silver-mounted blotter.

The brown leather outside casing hosts five separate areas of decoration, each of which carries conforming hallmarks for London 1896 with the maker''s mark for William Comyns.

The silver is securely attached. There is a vacant cartouche in the middle and the silver decoration is in excellent condition. The leather casing has quite a bit of wear, especially on the spine. The watermarked silk inside is bottle green in colour. It is frayed slightly on the edges, as one would expect, but is firmly attached. There is a folder or wallet inside the front cover. The blotting paper is also well attached and could probably tell a few stories!

Overall, a practical piece of history.
