Handsome English Sterling Silver Photograph Frame - 1924

Description

A truly elegant and simple photograph frame made from English sterling silver with a full English hallmark for Birmingham 1924, nearly 100 years old.

The makers mark is also present for the silversmith Wilmott Manufacturing Co. Formed in 1912 upon the amalgamation of Wilmot Brothers (York Works, Birmingham) and Norton & White and Walsam & Co (Camden Street, Birmingham). From 1920 the firm had showrooms at 40 High Holborn, London and Paris.

The back is solid wood and retains the folding easel back stand.

Excellent condition, measuring an overall 11 1/2" x 8" x 5/8" thick; the glazed aperture measuring 9 1/4" x 6 3/4".
