Mid/Late 19th Century English Ebonised Bracket Clock with fast/slow dial and gilt Ormolu figures, feet and finials.
Dial inscribed B L Vulliamy (Benjamin Lewis 1780-1854) Son of Benjamin Vulliamy.
The Vulliamy family were highly renowned Clockmakers to the Crown since 1742 - George II. This clock has a W&H SCH 8 Day Quarter Striking Movement.
W&H SCH: Winterhalder & Hoffmeier - one of the best German Clockmakers, established in 1840 and eventually became part of the Junghans Clock Empire in the 1920s.
Naturally, with a W&H movement and the stylised L this clock was not made by B.L. Vulliamy himself but would have been retailed in honour of Him.
