Rare Preston Senior Hunter Pocket Watch by Waltham

A rare Preston Senior full hunter pocket watch, made by Waltham as a private label piece for Prestons Ltd of Bolton, UK.

This is a very rare watch with only 350 hunter pieces made in total. This model was only produced in 1918, with just two production runs.

The fact that it is a private label Waltham is also unusual as very few re-sellers commissioned private label Waltham pocket watches.

This particular watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 641, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 22,323,242 confirms that it was made in 1918. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made in England by the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific case manufacturer who supplied many watch manufacturers including Waltham with whom the company had very close links. The case is in good condition with just light surface marks, nothing serious at all.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is glass lens which is good condition.

The dial is signed Prestons Ltd, Waltham, USA. It is in lovely condition with just one short hairline crack underneath the subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
