Japanese Meiji Period Mixed Metal Onlaid Bronze Koro And Cover

An impressive Japanese Meiji period onlaid mixed-metal bronze koro & cover of bulbous form with a circular foot it has two stylised phoenix handles and a cartouche either side, one depicting a samurai with hat on the ground inscribing a cherry blossom tree, the other shows two crows amongst flowering branches on a silvered background. Finished with scrolling decorative borders around the panels and foot, the cover is pierced and decorated with stylised motifs, topped with a seated character as a finial.
This fine koro is superbly decorated and is signed on the underside, it is in excellent overall condition and stands 12 ½ inches tall.
