The quality and condition are excellent and the mahogany has developed a wonderful rich colour. The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. The brass plate handles are original and the bureau interior is in superb condition with two secret drawers. The upper bookcase has its original working key and the pine shelves are all adjustable and removable. The oak lined drawers run smoothly, having had the internal runners either repaired or replaced, and are generally clean and tidy inside. 3 out of the 4 drawers also have a working key, however one lock has been changed and therefore does not lock. There are some signs of age, minor marks and small splits knocks but nothing detrimental and overall it is a lovely sturdy piece of furniture.
