George III Mahogany Breakfront Bookcase

Description

For sale is an impressive George III Mahogany breakfront Bookcase, attributed to Gillows, with a moulded cornice over four large glazed doors, with arched astragals and fabric linings within. Each door is flanked by fluted columns above the base, comprising two cupboard doors to the centre, with four graduated drawers on either side, standing on a plinth base. The bookcase is in good original condition, with minor wear commensurate with age and use, slight signs of age related shrinkage.

The bookcase breaks down into 7 large sections, as well as the cornice, top surface and plinth.

This item was purchased from North Mymms Park. North Mymms Park is a private estate near Colney Heath.The house is a red Manor house built in the 16th century but it has been an estate since 1066.Members of the royal family have stayed there. In the house there are a large number of rooms some of which have decorated ceilings. There is a Clock Tower on the North Side of North Mymms Park. The inside of the Clock tower was built in 1801.
