FB Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The sideboard is in very good condition with very minor wear commensurate with age and use. The sideboard was made by Christopher Pratt, a renowned English cabinet maker.
Pratt became an apprentice cabinet maker. After finishing his apprenticeship, Christopher Pratt set up his business in 1845, designing and making quality furniture for homes, businesses and buildings nationwide.
By 1900 the store had 14 departments and sold furniture from other craftsmen.
During the First World War, Christopher Pratts contributed to the war effort by producing and assembling aircraft parts
We believe this piece to have been bespoke made for the owners of North Mymms Park, where we purchased the sideboard. North Mymms Park. North Mymms Park is a private estate near Colney Heath.The house is a red Manor house built in the 16th century but it has been an estate since 1066.Members of the royal family have stayed there. In the house there are a large number of rooms some of which have decorated ceilings. There is a Clock Tower on the North Side of North Mymms Park. The inside of the Clock tower was built in 1801.
