19th Century Oak Sideboard by Christopher Pratt

19th century
Description

For sale is an extraordinary Victorian Oak Sideboard, with a raised back having a dentil and carved frieze over five leaded glass doors and turned ionic columns. The base with two drawers and two panelled doors, one enclosing a cellaret, within carved ends with scrolled brackets, turned and carved columns and open shelves. The sideboard is in very good condition with very minor wear commensurate with age and use. The sideboard was made by Christopher Pratt, a renowned English cabinet maker.

Pratt became an apprentice cabinet maker. After finishing his apprenticeship, Christopher Pratt set up his business in 1845, designing and making quality furniture for homes, businesses and buildings nationwide.

By 1900 the store had 14 departments and sold furniture from other craftsmen.
