Large Victorian Sterling Silver Table Box - 1888

Description

A beautiful antique English box with all over repousse or embossed decoration with a crimped edge to both the lid and the foot.

Made from solid sterling silver the box is fully hallmarked for London 1888, a true Victorian example and includes the Queen Victoria's head duty mark. The makers mark is also present for the silversmiths, William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davies of 370 Oxford Street, London. The elegant domed lid lifts to reveal a lavishly gilded interior.

A good size measuring 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" tall.
