M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 1850s.
Evocative and well-executed sea-scape study of a 3-masted vessel upon an open sea. The billowing sails shown with detailed rigging lines and blocks.

The paint above the boat showing nicely aged signs of shrinking crackulature but with no losses.
Original finish with subdued colours and patina of age . The reverse with its original papered finish .
The burr-maple veneered shaped-section frame with very minor historic loss of veneer to the lower right-hand corner.
Smart and atmospheric maritime study presented in excellent original, untouched condition .
