Terracotta lion garden stand circa 1920

This garden figure in the form of a lion with a stand on its back for displaying plant pot etc, would have been made in the 1920’s

This special custom made piece, has an Art Deco influence, and also very much the character of the lions from the Wembley Exhibition of 1924.

It would probably have been made by a brick company of tile maker, perhaps for promotion or an exhibition.

It stands 79cms wide (31ins)
