An Unusual Victorian Silver Scent Flask with Memento Compartment

A superb Victorian silver mounted scent flask with an unusual memento compartment. This lovely example has extensive cutting to the back in hobnails and notches, echoing the sides with notch and bevel designs . The silver lid is a screw top and opens to reveal the stopper. The silver panel to the front is hinged and opens to reveal a shallow compartment with a blue glass 'window', probably for a small lock of hair. A wonderful collector's item. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no holes or splits to the lid and no chips or cracks to the glass, save a couple of 'bumps' to the base. There is a line of dirt inside the back of the bottle shown in photo, which is not a crack or damage.

Hallmarks :- Distorted, but readable with perseverance.
