Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The box itself is of coromandel wood, edged in brass and with brass inlay. The top opens to reveal the upper section fitted with nine silver-topped bottles and jars. This tray may be removed to reveal below the wonderful tray of original tools and implements all of which are present and include: razors; corkscrews; penknife; files; scissors; pencil and (never seen by us before) a silver WHISTLE!
Further below is a fitted jewellery section with compartments for studs; tiepins etc. *Fully hallmarked for London 1875. 12x8x6.5ins.
