Antique Longcase Clock

Description

A fine quality William III London marquetry longcase clock. Detailed inlays to the case retaining it's original caddy pediment. Brass capped hood front and rear quarter columns and side glass apertures. Fretwork above the hood door. A brass pendulum lenticle to the trunk door. Brass cased weights. A square brass and silvered dial with crown and cherub spandrels, date and seconds. An 8-day duration movement with 5 ringed pillars striking the hours on a bell with internal countwheel.

Henry Massey of London is recorded in Loomes ' 'Early Clockmakers of Great Britain' book as working until 1704. He became a brother of the Clockmakers Company in 1692.
