Antique Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A Regency period Somerset moon-phase longcase clock of slim proportions. An elegant case with choice flame mahogany veneers and crossbanded edging. A swan neck hood pediment with brass patterae and central brass finial. Corinthium brass capped fluted hood columns. An arched painted dial with date, seconds and lunar moon phases to the arch. An 8-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell.

The Webb family of clockmakers worked in Frome in the 18th and 19th centuries. They are well documented and illustrated in A J Moores' The Clockmakers of Somerset' book.

Height 7ft 5 " / 225 cms
