Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 1920s and 1930s, French glassmakers revolutionized decorative art by producing opalescent glass vessels designed for vanity use. Makers such as Sabino and Lalique developed specific thermal treatments and chemical formulations to create glass that reacted distinctively to light, turning soft blue against dark backgrounds and warm amber when light passed through it.

Opalescent glass was produced by adding chemical agents such as bone ash or fluorides to the molten batch. The glass was press-moulded into specific shapes and subjected to controlled re-heating, which caused partial crystallization and resulted in its characteristic milky, iridescent appearance.

Authentic pieces from this era generally exhibit a precise press-moulded finish, subtle mould seam lines, and a signature blue-amber chromatic shift. Many original items feature etched or moulded signatures such as Sabino France near the base or stopper, alongside a frosted or ground glass stopper joint.

An antique scent bottle can be placed on a mirrored vanity tray, a marble bathroom counter, or a polished wooden bedside table. Grouping the piece alongside other glass collectibles or vintage dressing table items creates a curated, layered vignette.

Clean opalescent glass by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive pads and harsh chemicals. Ensure ground glass stoppers are handled carefully to prevent chipping, and store the bottle away from direct heat sources.
