Description

Finely painted early C20th Indian otagonal marble panel depicting Shan Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal , posed on a carpet before the Taj Mahal in Agra.

Beautifully detailed polychrome decorated white marble panel with raised gilt and jewelled embellishments.

The panel depicting the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan (reigned 1628-1658) and his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal. The ivory -white marble mausoleum at Agra was commissioned by the Emperor to house the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal.

Shown seated upon a fine carpet with Jali-work panels and vases behind . The octagonal edge with fine quality gilding . The borders with trailing flower designs.

The painting throughout of exquisite quality and craftsmanship.

In excellent original condition with no rubbing, damage or losses.
