19th Century burr walnut davenport, the sloping top has a nice parchment colour leather writing surface decorated with blind tooling, which lifts up to reveal a compartment with four drawers, two of which are dummy drawers, there is a superstructure on top which opens up to reveal partitions for letters, pens, stamps etc. There are four working drawers on one side and four dummy drawers the other side, all with original wooden turned knob handles, the working drawers are mahogany lined, the front section fitted with a lovely burr walnut panel, with two finely turned and carved columns supported the writing slope and the shaped bottom section, standing on turned bun feet with porcelain castors. Circa 1860.
