Description

A fine quality mid-19th century ladys' FITTED DRESSING CASE in superb original condition.

The well-figured coromandel-wood case is finely inlaid to the front and lid with engraved brass scrolls and abalone shellwork. The lid opens to reveal the interior with its full set of silver-topped scent bottles; flasks and jars, all beautifully engraved and arranged around the central tray of tools and implements.

Within the lid is a mirror whilst to the base is the fitted jewellery drawer. It is lined throughout in finest gilt-tooled red morocco leather. Working lock & key. The silver is hallmarked for London 1856. A very fine box indeed!
