Still Life with Fruit - Antique Oil Painting

1920 - 1940
Description

Signed oil on canvas of peaches and grapes on a plate with a glass of wine. The painting is signed by the Belgium artist Paule Bisman (1897 - 1973) and is mounted in a quality moulded wooden frame. Both the frame and canvas are in excellent condition.

Paule Bisman (1897-1973) was educated at the Brussels Academy and lived for almost forty years in Sint-Lambrechts. During her long career as sculptress and painter, she stayed away from abstract art and other innovative art movements. Despite her rather classical approach she was highly regarded by her contemporaries and colleagues. Throughout her career she won a few prestigious awards and distinctions (including the Rome Prize in 1927). She painted landscapes and sea views, portraits, church interiors and town views

The painting dates from around 1930-1940
