Paule Bisman (1897-1973) was educated at the Brussels Academy and lived for almost forty years in Sint-Lambrechts. During her long career as sculptress and painter, she stayed away from abstract art and other innovative art movements. Despite her rather classical approach she was highly regarded by her contemporaries and colleagues. Throughout her career she won a few prestigious awards and distinctions (including the Rome Prize in 1927). She painted landscapes and sea views, portraits, church interiors and town views
