~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
A superb original antique French gilt bronze clock set. It is baroque in style and features the Goddess Nike in a panel below the dial. Above the dial is a shield with mythical beasts and an elaborate urn standing on four pillars. A fretted section to the front allows a glimpse of the pendulum swinging within the case. Candelabra are conforming in style with four branches. The set is finely modelled and beautifully finished.
The large dial is gilt bronze mounted with 12 individual porcelain enamel cartouches. It is complete with original blued steel hands and convex glass.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
