Victorian Cased Antique Silver Cream Jug and Sugar Bowl 1889

A superb set of SOLID SILVER CREAM JUG and SUGAR BOWL presented in their original velvet lined leather case.

Made by the well-known silversmiths of Hilliard & Thomason in 1889, this matching Jug and Bowl have a gadrooned base with embossed upper border. Both the Jug and Bowl retain their original vibrant gilt coating and clearly have had very little use, if any, in their lifetime.

The case is covered in burgundy coloured leather with gold highlighting and has a red velvet and satin lining. The hinged lid fits correctly and the clasp closes securely. There is some wear and tear to the outside of box which would be normal given the age. There are no added engravings, monograms or initials.

This lovely cased set would make a fabulous christening gift or would add to any silver collection.
