Gents 1950 Omega Bumper Automatic Wrist Watch

Gents 1950s Omega bumper automatic wrist watch.

The watch has a bumper automatic movement, calibre 342. Early automatic watches relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

The 342 is possibly the most highly regarded and technically advanced of all the Omega bumper movements. The movement is signed with the Omega name and the serial number 12,067,934 dates it back to around 1950.

The watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the handsome teardrop lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition with just light surface scratching to the back. The inner case back is signed with the Omega triangular logo and it has the case reference 2402-1 which is correct for the calibre 342. The winding crown has the Omega logo.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original feuille shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There is some fairly light marking to the dial.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
