In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
There are the remains of some paper labels at the back of the drawers and a few bird names can be made out including 'Red Breasted Geese'. The wooden dividers can be easily removed or modified to make the chest useable for storing a variety of things.
It is in good original condition and displays very nicely. It has picked up a few minor knocks and scuffs over the years and there is some slight shrinkage around the bottom plinth but nothing detrimental. The drawers all open and close smoothly and are very clean and tidy inside.
