Fine French 19th Century Marble Topped Louis Philippe Mahogany Centre Table

A fine and rare antique French 19th century Louis Philippe period marble topped mahogany centre table / gueridon circa 1830

The original circular dished grey and white veined “Gris St Ann” marble top having a moulded / reeded outer edge sitting above a flame mahogany moulded edge frieze.

The top is supported by three of the most wonderful volute shaped monopedia supports having reeded fronts with carved acanthus leaf decoration terminating on paw feet. The supports being raised by a shaped tri-form stretcher base with foliate decoration and carved mahogany central urn.

Offered in excellent condition having been restored using traditional wax methods having a fine colour and patina with the original marble also in excellent condition

This is an exceptionally good quality centre table /gueridon which stands very well with a fine marble and excellent choice of timbers. Rare to find one of this model.

Gris St.Anne Marble is a dark grey marble with white and light grey markings. It is quarried mainly in Belgium at Gougnies near Charleroi and at Biesme, Namur.
