An 18th Century Silver Port Label

A delightful 18th Century silver decanter label. This beautiful example has a shaped, reeded border, with 'Port' engraved to the front. It is supported on a belcher chain and is a practical and collectable piece. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no splits or dents. There is some scarring to the back where the letters have been engraved, commensurate with age.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. Often small items were only part marked and this piece has the Maker's mark, Sterling lion, date letter and duty mark.

Maker :- John Hutson.

Date :- London 1795.

Width :- 4.5 cms (widest point).

Height :- 2.5 cms (highest point).
