Description
This is an extremely rare miniature carriage clock of Swiss manufacture dating circa 1900 which repeats the hours , quarters and minutes via the large button on top of the case. It was constructed in such a manner to allow the owner to reach out in the night and press the button to be reminded of the exact time The very fine circular 8 day movement with lever escapement strikes on two bells and was described by my clockmaker as one of the most complicated but beautifully made movements he had ever worked on. A video is available at https://en-gb.facebook.com/overtonclocks/videos/1518228044957279/ The gilt brass case has been re gilded in a very sympathetic manner to preserve originality and looks very nice. It has fluted Corinthian capped pillars on all corners and adjustment and winding of the clock is facilitated by sliding a plate underneath the clock to reveal the winder The 1 1/4 inch white porcelain dial has the rubbed signature of a retailer and the numerals and hands bear traces of gilding and luminescent paint. It will delight the most discerning buyer. The images should show prospective buyers all they need to see but a personal inspection is very welcome as this item is actually nicer in real life than the images depict. ? ? ?
