Description

A rarer example of a Duplex escapement French carriage clock by Silvani. A large glass aperture with unusual lions head lugs to the cast handle. An enamel dial with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. The original duplex bi-metallic escapement with engraving. Signed to the inside front plate 'Silvani Paris'. A very well engraved case with gilding. Shuttered winding holes to the case back. Circa 1840.
