Description

Matching pair of high-quality Edwardian period inlaid figured rosewood music cabinets.

Smart pair of highly-figured rosewood single glazed-door cabinets originally designed to store sheet music . The bevel glass doors each enclosing velvet plush lined shelves and polished interior , the adjustable shelves still with original tasseled edge finish and some with original 'ivorine' or bone labels. The doors each fitted with a brass handle with a wrythen ring design.

The serpentine outline tops each with a moulded edge and fitted with a three-quarter gilded cast-brass pierced gallery. The centre with an inlaid box-wood and bone motif . The doors each with an inlaid design of wreathed musical instruments in box-wood and bone detail to panels top and bottom of glazing . The edges , tops and sides with inlaid bone or ivorine stringing line detail .

Each cabinet raised on ogee-section bracket feet and fitted with original castors beneath.

Useful and decorative pair of cabinets which would lend themselves to various uses .

Excellent clean condition with no damage or losses . Have been cleaned, polished and waxed in our workshops.
