Oversized Antique Inlaid Mahogany Double Compartment Tea Caddy C.1840

Description

An absolutely stunning huge tea caddy or chest, due to it's size I suspect perhaps used in a smart hotel or private club, essentially, a commercial sized caddy!

The exterior is beautiful with the shiny red Mahogany has highly decorative cross-banding and a linear inlay with scrolled ends. The top and front have an attractive ovoid inlay adding to it's decorative appeal.

The interior reveals the wonderful large lids covering the two compartments with integral turned wooden handles. The interior of the lid has been re-lined with hand-made paper, professionally finished and in keeping.

Complete with a taselled key, it's a stunning and impressive large piece to add to your collection. Measuring 11 1/2" wide x 7 1/2" deep x 7 1/2" tall.
