A Pair of Victorian Brass Dolphin Candlesticks

19th century
Description

Circa 1880-1900 A pair of very ornate and well made brass candlesticks with the figure of a mythological sea creature, or dolphin making up the central column and supporting the candle cups.

They measure 23cm in height with 12.25 cm square bases that have little angular feet on each corner.

The candlesticks are made of solid brass with lovely decorative details throughout and pierced brass work on the base and on the square candle support. The candle cups themselves have a floral pattern around and a rope effect ring around the top. The weight and the details show the quality of the sticks.
