A Pair of Victorian Mythological Fire Dogs

19th century
Description

Circa 1880-1910, this pair of unusual, solid brass fire dogs are shaped in the form of a bearded man/mythological beast with lion's claw feet.

They measure 21cm in height at the very tallest point and 23cm across, with approximately 15cm between the feet at the front. The bar on which the fire irons rest are 9.5cm in length.

The fire dogs have been very well made and are in excellent condition. They have been polished but not lacquered and weigh approximately 1.1kgs each.
