French Boulle Tortoishell Longcase Clock

Description

An outstanding French boulle tortoishell inlaid longcase clock. Gilded ormolu case mounts and surmounted by a seated figure. Detailed inlaid panels to the front and case sides. A glass aperture to the Louis IV sunburst pendulum. Cast splayed feet to the base. A well cast dial with individual enamel numeral cartouches and blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell signed AR 8974.
