A Mason’s Ironstone China for Harrod’s Ltd. bedroom set comprising a wash bowl and jug, vase, two soap dishes (only one with cover). Covered dish and slop bucket with cover and rattan handle, floral pattern no. 617. (6)
Condition: Washbowl: Some wear colour to interior decoration. No other damage.
Soap dishes: One-liner with a tiny chip, otherwise good.
Slop bucket and cover: Good condition. Overall this is a very nice and rare part set of third quarter Victorian Masons Ironstone. Rare to see a bucket with original rattan handle and draining liner complete.
This set has no obvious signs of heavy use and a superb display item. 15/20 years ago a set like this would have made well over £1000.
But that was then, now it is truly a bargain waiting to rejoin the World of desirable. For me, I have always enjoyed Victorian Masons Ironstone, especially the early post-Miles Mason wares. of the early 19th century. (Imprest stamp mark). This set has the Blue Crown Round corner. Circa 1870s
